ncish7
I recently purchased a new computer, with Windows Vista 64 Bit OS. On this new computer, I have installed a Belkin Wireless USB Adapter (F5D7050). It is picking up the signal sent out from my router, on my other computer. The router is a Linksys WRT54G. I have the updated firmware DD-WRT v23 SP2. I have turned off the Router firewall, and added utorrent to the list of exceptions on my windows firewall. I have read through the speed guide, and followed the directions, yet I am still not connectable. I believe its a problem with forwarding the ports for my router. If someone could help me with that, or tell me what the problem is, that would be much appreciated.Thank you.
DreadWingKnight
The standard method for portforwarding is listed on http://portforward.com/routers.htmVariances may be documented on the DD-WRT page.
ncish7
Im seeing that I will have to make a static IP. Does it matter what computer I do that from?
DreadWingKnight
Yes.You need to give the computer that will be running uTorrent the static IP.
ncish7
Where it says use the following DNS Server adresses... What am I putting there? Where it says IP address, I put in my IPv4 address, which was 192.168.1.124, would that be correct? I just dont know what to put for the DNS options. Thanks, and sorry for my lack of knowledge with this.
DreadWingKnight
That's covered in the portforward.com static IP guide
ncish7
Ok, now I am still unable to find my name servers. On my router page, for static DNS and local DNS, there is nothing filled out, so how would I know my name servers?

ncish7
Ok, I believe Ive now set up the static IP. For IP address, I put 192.168.1.124, subnet mask 255.255.255.0, and default gateway 192.168.1.1, and for the DNS, i copied the address' that were on the status page. Is that correct? ncish7
Alright, now what would my static IP now be? And Im guessing Ill have to set my router to static IP?
DreadWingKnight
Your static IP would be outside of the DHCP range that your router gives out.You don't need to set a static IP on the router unless it is also behind another router.
ncish7
Alright, so knowing my current numbers, what would I put for static ip... so that I can open up ports for utorrent?
DreadWingKnight
I would set the static IP on the computer to 192.168.1.24, match up everything else, then set the forwards appropriately.
ncish7
I did that, and rebooted, and Im still getting the Not Connectable sign. Was there something I should have set on the router page, other than the port forwarding? What could I have done wrong?
