majic Posted April 12, 2007 Report Posted April 12, 2007 Hi can someone please help.I'm running utorrent 1.6.1 and have tried everything tog et rid of the dreaded yellow triangle. I'm downloading at a measly 3.8kb/s. I have windows XP with service pack2 and AVG. I have a netgear DG824M router which I think I've correctly configured ports 6881-6889 to forward, not 100% sure though. I've checked the windows firewall to allow utorrent through. When I doubleclick on the yellow triangle and test if the port is forwarded correctly I get "Welcome to the µTorrent Port Checker.A test will be performed on your computer to check if the specified port is opened.Checking port 6887 on 89.242.9.2...Error! Port 6887 does not appear to be open. Please see www.portforward.com for more information about how to map a port. Please make absolutely sure that PeerGuardian2 or Protowall is allowing utorrent.com (72.20.34.145) in either of those programs. Those of you using ipfilter.dat should make sure the list does not include the website's IP. After making sure of this, re-run this test by refreshing the page (F5). "Can someone please help me fix this so I can download at a reasonable rate. Thanks in advance.
silverfire Posted April 13, 2007 Report Posted April 13, 2007 Don't use ports 6881-6889. Use a higher range because some ISP's block and/or throttle those ports because they're well-known p2p ports.
majic Posted April 13, 2007 Author Report Posted April 13, 2007 thanks for your reply. I'll give it a go.
