upstateSCgirl Posted April 18, 2007 Report Posted April 18, 2007 I am not sure if this is troubleshooting or a bug.I can get the files to be removed from the utorrent program but I can not delete them from my hard drive. It gives an error "You do not have permission to delete the files" and I used unlocker and it gives me an error "Not authorized to delete files" and sends me to unlockers FAQ which sends me to C++ in the windows vista help files. And let me just say no one writing over at windows vista help have a clue what they are talking about. The instructions do not even fit my OS.I checked the FAQ here and all it talks about is deleting files the proper way-the way I have already tried.I have even uninstalled utorrent and tried to delete the files but once again I got the same error message. Is there any clue about how to delete the files? Or did I even make sense?
Determination Posted April 19, 2007 Report Posted April 19, 2007 odd. It's possible you have a virus or another undesirable that is locking access to those files. Try accessing them in Safe Mode. (are you running Vista? I don't even know if Vista has a "safe mode" anymore) Virus Scanning / Spyware wouldn't be out the question either.
upstateSCgirl Posted April 19, 2007 Author Report Posted April 19, 2007 I am using vista. I am sure there is a safe mode on here somewhere but I don't believe anyone at microsoft knows where it is lol. I have ran spyware and a virus scan on here today and I was clean. And luckily this computer is only a week old so I haven't had much time to fill it up with any spyware yet.
Determination Posted April 19, 2007 Report Posted April 19, 2007 Try F8 when booting (after post, before you see Vista Login. The same time as XP I would imagine. Not having Vista, nor planning on migrating, I can't tell you for sure.)
upstateSCgirl Posted April 19, 2007 Author Report Posted April 19, 2007 i will thank youi don't recommend vista either lolEdited to add :Deleting the files in safe mode worked. Although F8 isn't the magic button for vista. I had to pull the plug so I could get it to come up in the safe mode. Thanks so much!
