Oddjob74
Hi there, I have been using utorrent for a while now and think it is easily the best client out there. However there has been an ongoing problem since I installed version 1.6.1 The download arrow which is usually Blue is most of the time Red showing a problem with the Trackers, either being offline or busy etc! I would expect that occasionally but it is most of the time now and it can't be that all of the trackers are down at the same time! I was wondering if there is a setting or something within utorrent to fix this? I run peer gaurdian 2, does that affect it?
Ultima
When was the last time you performed a Windows Update? Have you ever patched TCPIP.sys? If so, when, and to how much did you set the limit? What is your net.max_halfopen set to in Preferences > Advanced?
Oddjob74
Hi there, It probably last updated itself about a week ago, I have windows updates on so it is constantly updating stuff, bit annoying really! I have installed a patch from lvlord to open up something in the windows settings to 80, if thats the patch you are talking about? And I have changed the net.max_halfopen to 80 also in utorrent settings.
Ultima
Bad settings. You're not supposed to be setting net.max_halfopen equal to the TCPIP.sys limit -- net.max_halfopen should, at most, be 80% of the TCPIP.sys limit. In any case, you didn't answer me as to when you last patched the file.
Oddjob74
Well I re-formatted my laptop about 3 weeks ago so I would of installed the patch then. When I re-installed utorrent.
Ultima
Windows Updates almost always revert the patch. Every time there is a Windows Update, you have to remember to repatch TCPIP.sys. Again, you need to lower net.max_halfopen to at most 80% of the TCPIP.sys limit.
Oddjob74
Thanks Ultima, got it working fine now. TCPIP.sys. is set at 80 and the net.max_halfopen at 60. 75% Seems to be working great. Thanks again!
