demented
Hi,We recently acquired a satellite connection and that's when my woes started. Absolutely nothing going up or coming down. Sigh. I've heard that torrents mostly don't work at all on satellite connections. Can anyone enlighten me as to how the heck they manage to detect and block said torrents? Cuz, encryption doesn't seem to work. Isn't there any way to get through this other than dump the satellite connection and go back to my dsl line? Ultima
The way things are with satellite, you can't forward your ports. That's bad. Indeed, there isn't much you can do about it besides switch services.
demented
Well, if I can't forward ports... how is it that when I 'Test if port is forwarded properly', I get a green OK? Or does that imply something else?
Ultima
Start > Run > cmd /k ipconfig /allFor gateway IP address, what are the first 2 sets of numbers (xx.xx. in xx.xx.yy.yy)?

Ultima
Yeah you're NATed. Do you have a green light in the status bar? In any case, it's easily possible that they're throttling, like you said, as others have reported the same before, IIRC.
demented
Yellow light. But, yeah, I get the feeling that they're throttling cuz the minute I start downloading from a torrent, I see the speed climb for approximately 3 seconds before taking a nose dive. Happens each time I start.Anyhow, thanks for informing me about NAT.
