lufc Posted November 11, 2005 Report Posted November 11, 2005 When I download a torrent (via Firefox), occasionally uTorrent will open another occurence of itself instead of adding the new torrent to the (large) queue. The new version also has all the existing torrents in the queue so the first I notice is error messages saying that existing torrents can't be downloaded cos another version is running etc. What's the problem please?v1.2
1c3d0g Posted January 6, 2006 Report Posted January 6, 2006 Yes, this is a known bug. It's supposed to be fixed in the latest Beta, so use Build 390 and report back to us if it still happens.
lufc Posted January 6, 2006 Author Report Posted January 6, 2006 Nope. Still doing it with latest beta.
Firon Posted January 6, 2006 Report Posted January 6, 2006 http://utorrent.com/download/beta/utorrent-1.3.2-beta-build-393.exeMake sure you associate µTorrent with the new beta too. (Associate with .torrent files in General Options)
lufc Posted January 7, 2006 Author Report Posted January 7, 2006 Of course.I downloaded the next Beta too .391 and it's doing it in there too.Locks up and freezes screen quite often.
idle.newbie Posted January 7, 2006 Report Posted January 7, 2006 open Preferences -> General Options in µT b.393, what's the text color of "Associate with .torrent files" button, grey or black? if it's black, click it again.
lufc Posted January 7, 2006 Author Report Posted January 7, 2006 It grey.. in fact when you start the .exe for the first time the pop-up asks you.Anyways.. sorry.. this is my first attempt with .393The other errors were with .386 .390 .391OK I'll hammer thsi one and see what happens.Cheers
lufc Posted January 7, 2006 Author Report Posted January 7, 2006 OK.. first bug.Browse through settings.. I browsed to the last screen ADVANCED OPTIONSdid't change anything, Hit OK.. LocksNow 2 mins and countingJust a solid hourglass4 minsOK.. eventually it clears and runs.BTW when I put this BETA on all my Torrents became mis-ordered.. A torrent that was number 9 is now number 1 etc etc
infidel Posted January 7, 2006 Report Posted January 7, 2006 BTW when I put this BETA on all my Torrents became mis-ordered.. A torrent that was number 9 is now number 1 etc etcYes, mine reordered all of my torrents as well. The same ones were listed as running, but the new speed settings enabled several that I had planned to queue later, and I had to go through and rearrange the queue to get it back to how I had it in the previous version. This happened during the upgrade from 389 -> 391.I don't, however, have the Advanced Options issue lufc spoke of.Cheers,Infi----Update: I just confirmed that it occurs during closing and restarting the client, as well. Appears not to keep the order correctly, or misread it from the resume.dat file.
korkskallen Posted January 14, 2006 Report Posted January 14, 2006 I'm using the new 1.4 (402) and still, there is no way to open a torrentlink in firefox by clicking the link and "open with µTorrent". It just opens a new window. This should according to boo have bee solved in 1.3.1 beta or am i wrong?
Firon Posted January 14, 2006 Report Posted January 14, 2006 Make sure you associated .torrent files with it.
korkskallen Posted January 15, 2006 Report Posted January 15, 2006 The checkbox in prefereces->general options was marked and associate with was grey out, so I thought that was done properly. But then I manually associated them by rightclicking on the saved .torrent file and choose open with µTorrent and finally it worked. Thank you Firon for pointing that out.
