dht troubles

Greetings

I'm working with utorrent 1.6.1 b490 (windows xp sp2).

Everything works fine, but I have a red exclamation mark on the bottom bar saying DHT: waiting to log in.

A white box explains that DHT is not connectable. A firewall/router is limiting your network traffic. You need to open up a port so others can connect you.

Indeed the router (Edimax BR6104K) was set with firewall enabled but I opened the only port I saw in the preferences, namely 41129.

What more should I do?

Did you forward port 41129 for both TCP and UDP packets? DHT uses UDP packets.

I opened this port for both tcp and udp.

my stupid mistake was an error in my ip address.

I bet you don't have many errors like THAT around here.

Any recommendation for reading, so at least I'll be familiar with the concepts appearing in utorrent options/faq will be much obliged

Btw, have you run Speed Guide (CTRL+G) and set it based on your UPLOAD bandwidth?

everything is working. not as fast as I want but I have too few seeds to complain.

Done the speed tesy as you adviced. Not very flattering.

I'm still looking for some reading. I have long experience with computers but always avoided the subject of communication and networking. Grave mistake.
