Chain port forwarding

I am having trouble setting up uTorrent on my computer (I am using Windows XP, uTorrent 1.6.1). I have followed the instructions regarding activating UPnP, allowing uTorrent in firewall settings, setting a fixed IP address and port forwarding.

I am still getting a message telling me that the port is not forwarded, however I noticed on the error page that it is trying to access the port from a different IP address than my fixed IP address. I believe I may have an issue described in the user manual about using two routers. I am using a modem as well as a separate wireless router and I believe I may need to do chain port forwarding.

Where can I get more information about chain port forwarding? Any help would be appreciated.

I followed the directions in the manual, but the place I get stuck is in port forwarding my modem (rather than the wireless router). When I go into my modem configuration and adjust the NAT Rule Information to forward the port, I get an error message telling me that the entry already exists when I try to save. Obviously there is no existing entry because I've never done this kind of thing before!!

I've tried entering the same IP address as the Local Address From and Local Address To and I've also tried putting the IP address of the router in Local Address To. Regardless of what I put in, it still tells me that an entry already exists.

I don't know what else to do :(

I was still having massive problems trying to get my modem and router to forward properly, when I stumbled upon this guide:

http://forum.portforward.com/YaBB.cgi?board=Knowledge;action=display;num=1133918703

I highly recommend offering this golden bit of information to people having the same chain port forwarding issues that I was (i.e. - couldn't work out how to configure both the router and the modem)

From what I had read, I was under the impression that I simply needed to set up static IP addresses and forward the ports in both my router and modem, but now I have a far better understanding of what needed to be done. I highly recommend that little guide. :) thank you for your help, without these forums we'd be forever stuck trying to figure things out on our own!! Thanks again.
