Tweaking My ISP Connection For More Bandwidth.

I was wondering if theres a way to get more upload bandwidth out of my Comcast service. Now I know you can uncap a little and NOT get caught and even alot more. Just so you don't upload/download TB's of files each month, they wont notice anything. So I was wondering if I could maybe tweak my modem for that extra upload bandwidth? Maybe a script?

Thanks!

There is no script that i know of but I heard that XP reserves 20% of your bandwidth for its own uses ( updates etc.). Here is how to get it back ( This if for XP Pro only as Home does not have group policy editor) :

Click Start / Run

Type: gpedit.msc

This opens the group policy editor. Then go to:

Local Computer Policy / Computer Configuration / Administrative Templates / Network / QOS Packet Scheduler / Limit Reservable Bandwidth

Double click on Limit Reservable bandwidth. It will say it is not configured, but the truth is under the 'Explain' tab:

"By default, the Packet Scheduler limits the system to 20 percent of the bandwidth of a connection, but you can use this setting to override the default."

So the trick is to ENABLE reservable bandwidth, then set it to ZERO. This will allow the system to reserve nothing, rather than the default 20%.
