Mist
Failure: Torrent deleted or not in pool yet. Instructions send me off to the FAQ which doesn't tell much more.I've been hit with this now three times on mega giga downloads about a quarter to half way through the download. Annoying enough but with dial-up (thanks telco) it becomes a grrrr. My question is if the torrent is absent wouldn't it show (be unavailable) initially? If it is absent, why am I still pulling data?A red down arrow shows - just poofed - which is usually blue and three strong Peers sending data.I'm confused.Naturally, they are something I really want. Figures. ;-)Mist
Lord Alderaan
Sounds like a Tracker error that means the torrent you have running has at least one tracker that doesn't have it listed anymore.A torrent usually needs to be listed at the tracker and a lot of trackers have a TTL (time to live) on a torrent. After a while a torrent is deleted from the tracker list. You can still run it in your client if you have the .torrent file on the drive (or if its still running in µtorrent) and the DHT network might provide you with peers but the tracker will give you a error and won't give you peers or keep record of your activity. Mist
See if I understand this (learning). There were 5 torrents but one went home (retired) causing the problem. Ah, I wonder. Originally, there were 6 to the set plus a txt file. Since it was large and I'm slower than snails, I did an experiment. Took the first one only leaving the others to see if it'd d/l faster. This time, I'm after the others excluding the one I already have. So, could this be "smart" operator error as well? If so, I'm my own worst enemy here and won't do that again.Thanks. µtorrent-Guest
no, no you are confusing a bit of things now.as i'm not sure what you did on your side and what you mean with "Originally, there were 6 to the set plus a txt file. Since it was large and I'm slower than snails, I did an experiment. Took the first one only leaving the others to see if it'd d/l faster."If you mean that you have a torrent which was created of 6 files and you did something to some of those files, THAT has nothing to do with the error message. The error message is purely related to the data on the tracker. And if it tells you something about looking in the FAQ, then that message referes to the FAQ of the tracker(page) that gives you the error. It's not a reference to the µtorrent FAQ.Question: The part that you already have, is that doing what you expect that part to do, or is it fake? Mist
The torrent has 6 files and I only downloaded the first one of those the first time. Now I'm after the remaining five. Ok, was a thought. I confuse easily on unfamiliar ground.Answer: The part that I have is fine and plays well. Just want the remaining five. But I'm a Sauer (Sower) Kraut who made firearms, etc. Sorry for the bad family humor there. ;-)
µtorrent-Guest
so if that part is OK, then my initial thought that the torrent might got deleted because of being a fake is baseless.probably that torrent wasn't uploaded then to the tracker in the first place or regularily deleted like Lord A. suggested. Nothing to worry for you.
Mist
Thanks for everybody's help. I'm thinking that I should toss it and be patient until one comes along. Before I do, a last question (hopefully last), I read elsewhere if there's a glitch, what I've forgotten, but is still showing peer and d/ling don't disturb it. However, utorrent won't report statistics. Question is how will I know it's finished?Currently: DHT - 116 nodes; D has a green checkmark; still the red down arrow, and two peers flickering in and out. It's really bad being ignorant but all comes in time. Thanks again.Mist
µtorrent-Guest
"However, utorrent won't report statistics. Question is how will I know it's finished?"not reporting is refering here to the tracker. it isn't meant that µT will not tell you how much it has.when you have all of a torrent, your µT tells you 100%, don't worry.if this torrent allows DHT then will you find peers even when the tracker does not keep track anymore who is a peer.what do you mean with "flickering in and out"? Don't you exchange pieces with them or what?
Mist
"flickering in and out"? - show a peer, don't show a peer, show a peer....Hmmm...I think I am. Showing D: 1.8 U. 1.8 - both variable. This is dial-up so not terrible considering. Some day I'll live in the "big city." 30 mb of progress since last night. Some day! Only 1.3g left. Thanks again.
