.part files

Sorry for the dumb question. I just never saw a .part file and couldn't find much info on the net about them. Should of just did what my first intention to do was. Rename it to an .avi file. That worked and it opened fine. Wonder why it was named .part?

At least it gave me a reason to sign up here. Since I'm BT noobie.

Hm, of course could be too that you guys are a bit on a wrong track here;

While it is true that the Mozilla uses ".part" and at least one other downloadmanager that I know of two, maybe thread starter was refering to a splitted RAR file made with the alternative fileending instead of r01 to r99?!

Of course help for your downloads are against the forum rules, so you haven't read the following links. ;)

THAT'S AN ORDER!

Can't be a rar. Has to be an unfinnished download, probably from a program that downloads progressively (like firefox) so that renaming it will allow you to play the part you have downloaded (in case of some music and video files).

First off who said it was copyrighted ? who said I was sharing it? Actually I never even said that I downloaded it. I was asking what the deal with .part files were. Apparently it is an extension used to show that there is part of the file missing for one reason or another. Thank you to everyone who chimed in. This was the best answer I got to my question.

Whoever made the torrent made it with garbage files.

Thank you Firon.
