FordPrefect
What's a wireless router that won't disconnect you from the WAN when you use uTorrent (or any other bit torrent client for that matter)? I have a DI-624 and none of the fixes I've tried worked.
DreadWingKnight
Linksys WRT54GLTakes about 3-5 days to get to you from ncix (including the day they ship it)
FordPrefect
I read here that they have slowdown crash issues...http://forum.utorrent.com/viewtopic.php?id=21054
abbad0n
Don't know if they fixed it in the latest official firmware for the WRT54GL, but if not that's why an alternative firmware is recommended: http://utorrent.com/faq.php#Special_note_for_users_with_Linksys_WRT54G_GL_GS_routersOf course if you're not up to this mod, an alternative router is probably recommended. FordPrefect
I would like to buy one that I know for sure will work with utorrent and not have problems. I don't mind modding it but can someone tell me for sure that that specific model works with specific modded firmware? Also, I read that it had voip (I use Ventrilo) problems...Why can't someone make a router that just works lol. Nackas
at the moment i am using a Siemens SpeedStream 6520 wireless Gateway and i have had no proplems you just have configure the Port bypass in the gateways setting to allow for proper port forwarding. You wont get disconected for WAN either uhen using Utorrent or any other torrent download client

FordPrefect
It talks about two different ones though, which is the best for the WRT54GL?
Determination
DD-WRT, HyperWRT Thibor, and Tomato are all vastly better than Linksys'. Pick your favorite.
FordPrefect
Ok ok. But which will improve the performance the most and is least likely to brick it? All three can't be equally good right?
Firon
I personally prefer Thibor, but DD-WRT gives good results for a lot of people.
