RZOA
Hi,Last week my utorrent connection icon suddenly turned yellow, it says my port is not forwarded properly. There is almost no upload and all downloads are extremely slow. First I visit portforward's site and I set up a static ip address as instructed, then I go into my internet account and into port mapping, and I try to add the port which is 19913-19913 for instance. When I click apply, it always gives me the following message, even when I tried a dozen different ports with any kind of protocol:"Entry could not be registered with the NAPT server."I have no idea what this is, and therefore I called my internet service provider 4 times, who is BELL CANADA, and in all 4 times I called, they always tell me that this is not their responsibility, they just care if I can browse the net, which I can.I am using a SIEMENS SpeedStream 6520 with an Ethernet connection. As you can see, my connection icon suddenly flipped from green to yellow, and I can not add ports. If anyone knows how to solve this or has a slight hint, it would be greatly appreciated because I don't know who else to ask, I even tried googling it, but no luck. Thanks
Ultima
Er, maybe try 19913-19914?
RZOA
no didn't work, this is actually one of the first things I thought of when this happened, but even portforward tells you to put it as 19913-19913.In the 4 times I called my ISP, they never even bothered to try helping me a bit with the problem except once. One technician told me that the only reason is that I am entering invalid port numbers, I told him that those where taken from utorrent's random IP generator so this is unlikely the reason. I then asked him to give me whatever port he thought was correct so that I can prove him wrong, but he said he didn't have any to give me.
Ultima
So the SpeedStream is the only other thing between your "wall" and your computer?
RZOA
Sorry for replying late, long job hours and the summer heat left no energy in me to do anything.Yes the router is the only device between the computer and the wall. I tried Azureus hoping this may solve the problem, but it didn't. Azureus tells me I have a NAT problem, which is described on this web page.http://www.azureuswiki.com/index.php/NAT_problemHowever, they instruct you to enter ports in order to solve the problem, which is something i am unable to do.Thanks for trying to help me, i see no one else doing it. Ultima
Not sure what to say... it looks like a case of your router being stupid :|Just to be safe, I'll ask... You're 100% sure you're forwarding to the right IP address, right?
RZOA
Hi,I checked utorrent now and I was surprised that the connection icon was green. I tested if the port was forwarded correctly, and it was. Then I went into my internet account and I tried to forward a port, and it did that without mentioning any NAPT error, OMG! It got all fixed up by itself, just the same way it got stupid 2 weeks ago. Hopefully it will stay this way.I really didn't understand your question about forwarding my ip, I never knew about that, I know that you can only forward a port, but a static ip is fixed.I guess the ISP did something wrong and fixed it. So your diagnosis was correct, my router was just stupid. Thanks a lot, really appreciate your help.
galfridus
I've noticed this problem with a few Speedstreams - especially the 6520 (which I own). I haven't found a really solid way around this, but I've found a modem reboot helps occasionally. If anyone has any better advice on this, it would be awesome Also, I've noticed that you'll encounter the same error, regardless of what portrange you enter (even if it's just one port). To my great frustration, IP renewal, computer reboot, and giving the modem a swift kick in the teeth still don't yield any results... except the last, as I'm still looking for teeth to kick... swiftly...
