supertouchme Posted May 22, 2007 Report Posted May 22, 2007 this problem began yesterday. before then, i had been using utorrent for a few months without any problems. when i open the client, the torrents will seed and download normally for about 30 seconds, then my total upload speed will drop to 1 or 2 kb/sec. the download speeds will fluctuate between 0 and 250 kb/sec constantly. my internet connection, in general, seems to be working fine. i uploaded some files via aim and rapidshare.com and the upload speed was normal.i've also noticed a "disk overload 100%" message on the status bar.any help would be appreciated.
DreadWingKnight Posted May 22, 2007 Report Posted May 22, 2007 Check your hard drive transfer modes in device manager.
µtorrent-Guest Posted May 22, 2007 Report Posted May 22, 2007 if you haven't changed the µT settings recently, maybe your HDD transfer mode got cut back into PIO mode.(windows does this sometimes to the IDE channels if there are read errors)http://winhlp.com/WxDMA.htm
philips14c Posted May 25, 2007 Report Posted May 25, 2007 I also get the message "disk overload 100%" in uTorrent 1.7 Beta 1703! I've increased the cache up to 100Mb and the message has disappeared but the memory used by utorrent is above 50Mb!LOL! Also my downloads freeze when reaching 99.9%! It takes a while before they are completed (10-30min)! Sometimes downloads are completed but the extension of the files remains "!ut". I had the rename those files manually! Also my upload speed is very low (<1kBs) but the download speed is fine! Cannot seed! The 1.7 version is not stable at all! I recommend using 1.6.1! (I never had any problems with this version) I use Windows Vista Ultimate 64!
