Solopista
My setup is cable modem to Linksys router/switch to 3Com Gigaswitch to Computer running uTorrent. When I added the 3com switch to my network to gain local speeds and expand the number of jacks I could run I've had the issue where utorrent won't get port forwarding working. I am running my connection with the 'not connectable' status icon showing at the bottom.Any tips on how to get utorrent to control my Linksys while going through the 3com? Or is that not possible? The gateway and DNS settings are the typical 192.168.1.1(Linksys router/switch) and my subnet is 255.255.255.0 on the utorrent computer.I'm hoping to get utorrent a better connection but still keep the computer connected to the LAN on the gigaswitch. DreadWingKnight
It's not possible if the 3com is actually a router (it may not be, give us the model number of the linksys and 3com devices). The initial stage of UPnP is a UDP multicast broadcast, which does not get relayed past the first NAT layer. Solopista
Hey thanks for helping out. It's a BEFSX41 and a 3C1670800B. The 3Com from what I know is just a switch.3com info here:http://www.3com.com/products/en_US/detail.jsp?tab=features&pathtype=purchase&sku=3C1670800BI'm not up on my networking skills as I'm sure you have figured out. So I'm not familiar with UDP multicast. Is there a setting in uTorrent to get it to step through the 3Com?Thanks again.
DreadWingKnight
The BEFSX41 is a router. If you want to set up a persistent port forward, you need to follow the portforward.com guide for that model. There shouldn't be any reason why UPnP no longer works, although you could look into resetting the UPnP table in the Linksys' administration interface. Solopista
I went into the administration page and I saw that the UPnP was disabled! Ah I feel like a knob. I turned it on and re randomized the port and utorrent was able to map the port. Thanks for the help. I must have turned it off a while ago and not realized.
