nolo451 Posted June 4, 2007 Report Posted June 4, 2007 ok, so I tried using a static ip, and I used to have a red dot and the yellow one, now its green. Also, I went to the routers homepage and manually forwarded a port and still I get sluggish speeds. I haven't been able to log into any nodes at all, I don't know why. I did what this page told me to do:http://forum.utorrent.com/viewtopic.php?id=15992an still nothing, (except get the bottom dot to remain a green color). My router is a belkin model #F5D7231-4modem model # Speedstream 5100My upload speed is 420kilobits/sdownload speeds: 1600 kilobits/s (these are the results I got from the speed test)My ISP is SBC (dsl)The only firewall I have is the free AVG anti virus and I'm running Windows XPIf it helps, this is what my speed settings look like:http://img127.imageshack.us/img127/5821/utorrentii3.jpgIf any more info is needed that I didn't provide, don't hesitate to ask. Thanks.also: I'm not sure which speed I need to be concerned with to enter on the connection type, I don't know if should choose 1 MB for my download speed or 384 for my upload speed. As of right now I have it set to 1Mb because I think its asking to match the download speeds, but like I'm saying, I'm not sure if I am in the right or not.
Switeck Posted June 4, 2007 Report Posted June 4, 2007 It says, "Choose the upload speed appropriate for your connection"...so for you xx/384k (384 kilobits/sec max) is the closest to your measured 420 kilobits/sec.SBC DSL may be throttling BitTorrent traffic...I just don't know.Try a few GOOGLE (or other search engine) searches for people with 'throttled/block/slowed bittorrent on SBC' -- maybe someone else can definitively confirm or deny if SBC blocks/throttles BitTorrent traffic.NOTE: Quite a few ISPs still throttle/block BitTorrent only in certain areas. Also, even if you're NOT on a bad ISP, you may be trying to upload/download with someone who is...so speeds may not always be good, decent, or even above 0.
nolo451 Posted June 4, 2007 Author Report Posted June 4, 2007 ok, done that, seems to be doing ok, but as far as the DHT thing in the bottom, is it important to be logged on to any nodes? 90% of the time it says its trying to log in and the other 10% its says "1 Nodes logged in" Would it matter if I was logged in to like 200 nodes? This used to be the case before I moved here and started using this internet at my old place.
