lox760 Posted June 4, 2007 Report Posted June 4, 2007 I created a static IP already i already forwarded port 10001 but i used the utorrent checker and it still says my port is closed .I am on a windows XP using a WRT54G router. Can someone help me?
Ultima Posted June 5, 2007 Report Posted June 5, 2007 Try setting it (and forwarding the port) to 192.168.1.50.
Switeck Posted June 5, 2007 Report Posted June 5, 2007 Do you have any antispyware or antivirus software installed?(These can contain firewalls too that need to be configured OR disabled!)
lox760 Posted June 5, 2007 Author Report Posted June 5, 2007 Yea I do and it says personal firewall on.I can't seem to take it off because it is saying I do not have the neccesary rights to configure the item you double clicked.
Switeck Posted June 5, 2007 Report Posted June 5, 2007 Ok, now you know why µTorrent is firewalled. To uninstall or change the settings of that 'offending' program, you probably need to run Windows in Administrator mode and/or SAFE mode.
lox760 Posted June 5, 2007 Author Report Posted June 5, 2007 OK i un-installed norton and now I am getting speeds of like 5 KBs. My bittorrent says online, maybe firewalled.I made sure my firewalla was off in the windows security alerts.Whats a normal speed for torrents??EDIT:I can't save anything now. When i try to download a file it asks me where I want to save it and when I click save the screen just goes away and the file is not there. Did I do something wrong?
Honeyfrog Posted June 6, 2007 Report Posted June 6, 2007 Lox, are you able to trade at all, at present? If so, are you already maxing out your upload speed setting and getting similar or better download speed? If not, do you have PeerGuardian or similar blocklist installed, and how does it behave when you're trading? My recent experience may be helpful: http://forum.utorrent.com/viewtopic.php?id=24700
lox760 Posted June 6, 2007 Author Report Posted June 6, 2007 It turns out bittorrent is getting slow rates but not my utorrent.I'll just stick with utorrent.
Switeck Posted June 7, 2007 Report Posted June 7, 2007 Road Runner has throttled file-sharing in the past, I don't know if they still do...in areas.
