alchemist
I am 'VERY' new to all of this - I hardly am understanding the lingo used, but based on what I am reading it doesnt appear I am alone in my 'turtle' speed downloading of the 1GB file I chose. I has been 3 days and I am still 33% through - computer and network have been up all the time.I have triple checked my speed test, port is open etc etc - but it just simply appears to be slow. Best I get is 0.02kb/sIs there anything I should look out for please ?
Switeck
Yes, did you run Speed Guide (CTRL+G) and choose a setting between xx/256k and xx/1mbit?You seem to be on DSL, so your UPLOAD bandwidth is probably as little as 256 kilobits/sec or 1 megabits/sec at absolute best. You need to set µTorrent no higher than your real upload bandwidth or it will cause nasty overloads. What is the "availability" of the torrent you're on?That's the percentage available for you to download. If it's under 1.0, then the torrent CANNOT complete at the present time!If it's over 1, then there is more than enough seeds and peers currently connected to you for you to completely download that torrent. alchemist
Hello there, thank you for your response. I do the speed guide test and adjusted everything but it still seems nothing is coming down. with regards to availability, I did look at that and it always seems to be at 0.9 (just under 1) - so I assume this is what is causing the issue. It has been like that for atleast 2 days. What should I do ? just wait ?
Alterno
Are you using any of the last 2 beta builds? they seem to have a problem with speed.
Firon
The betas don't have any problems with speed. I have no problems maxing out. Any problems are likely to be your software firewall blocking connections (but lying about allowing them),.
Alterno
nope, I disabled windows firewall and nothing, it doesn't change. Heck I even disabled windows defender and nothing happened.
alchemist
I agree with Alterno - I disabled all firewalls. My real question since I have moved on from trying to debug this is : " ..with regards to availability, I did look at that and it always seems to be at 0.9 (just under 1) - so I assume this is what is causing the issue. It has been like that for atleast 2 days. What should I do ? just wait ?" Since I last posted the download of the file is still stuck at 1.7GB, the upload keeps increasing and the availability is still stuck at 0.9. can I do anything to rescue the 1.7GB I already downloaded or should I start over ? schnurlos
If the availabilty stays below 1.0 for long time, it could be a fake torrent too (sometimes happens on 'not official downloads').
