Honeyfrog Posted June 6, 2007 Report Posted June 6, 2007 This has happened to me every few months or so, always as the result of a freeze or crash (not uTorrent's fault): uTorrent will record a piece (or more) as having been received when they weren't in fact saved properly to the drive. As a consequence, the user will be sending bad data to other peers when that particular piece is requested, and he'll also have an incomplete file when he reaches 100%.In all of my cases, a forced-recheck discovered the bad piece and reset completion back to 99.9%.Solution: New checkboxes somewhere in Preferences, with x = default:[x] Recheck torrents upon completion[ ] Recheck active torrents automatically if uTorrent was closed improperly.[x] Ask user permission to recheck torrents if uTorrent was closed improperly.
Ultima Posted June 6, 2007 Report Posted June 6, 2007 If µTorrent *knew* it was closed improperly, it would already recheck files automatically, so I don't see the point of the second option. In fact, making the recheck optional would make the problem you're seeing *more* prevalent. The third option would suffer from the same exact issue. As for the first option, it's already been requested. This isn't a bug report either, and is more of a feature request thread.
