darcal
I've just downloaded and installed utorrent and it refuses to log in. I tried turning off my firewall so that all ports are open, but it still doesn't work. I'm using a Netgear DG834 router, so I also tried reducing the global connections from 230 to 100 and that didn't work either.I used to use utorrent on an older computer with a DSL modem without any technical difficulties. Can someone please help? Thanks. DreadWingKnight
The "log in" status is for DHThttp://forum.utorrent.com/viewtopic.php?id=11069

Honeyfrog
Before installing a new version of uTorrent, locate its prefences folder and drag the DHT, dht.log, Settings and settings.log out onto the desktop. That way you'll be absolutely certain there's no unaddressed conflicts between the versions. (There's been some problems with losing DHT in 1.6.) lexein
It (finally) worked for me: http://forum.utorrent.com/viewtopic.php?id=11069 post #1 suggests downloading the UTorrent.exe torrent from an alternate site, to provide an alternate DHT starting address. What I've observed is that 1. _downloading_ the torrent (not even starting it), followed by 2. _updating the tracker_, has restarted my DHT just fine. I'm leaving that unstarted torrent in my list from now on.

Lord Alderaan
Maybe PeerGuardian or other blocklist blocking the µtorrent DHT bootstrap url?
Firon
DHT was screwed for a day because of me, but I fixed it last night.
darcal
Ah I see, no worries Firon. Actually yesterday it logged in with about 230 nodes and the random port I opened gave me a good download speed aswell, so all sorted. Thanks very much.
