orcsoul
I've recently reconfigured a few of my settings in utorrent.. notably the max connections settings...I lowered the max overall to 180, max per torrent to 60, have 3 torrents active max, and set the upload slots per torrent down to 1, and have the <90% option checked... DHT and peer exchange are also disabled.Everything was find and dandy until i lowered my upload slots.. since then I've been getting wildly fluctuating speeds and torrents with peers will start uploading and stop randomly... now my upstream bandwidth isn't being capped nor is any of my downstream being used by utorrent.. it just seems that these torrents are having issues maintaining connections with peers and are constantly looking for a new one.Is this behavior normal for 1 slot per torrent? The only reason i limited that was so i could average a bit more than a tenth of a kilobyte to all the peers downloading pieces from me.
Ultima
Why don't you just follow the Speed Guide's settings...? I'm not surprised you get fluctuating upload speeds with a single upload slot, seeing as how a single peer won't necessarily download at a stable speed from you. Switeck
The single upload slot roams around betweeen peers on each torrent. Many times, it will connect to a peer that either isn't interested in downloading much from you at the moment...or can't due to an overload on their end. So speeds vary wildly.I've found I need at least 3 upload slots on a torrent for its total upload speed to stay relatively consistent.Another thing is you shouldn't be running more active torrents than you have have upload speed for. Each upload slot needs 1 KiloBYTE/sec upload speed at an absolute minimum, and preferably 3-10 KiloBYTES/sec. This is what Speed Guide (CTRL+G) tries to do. Joeres
uTorrent is okay and probably the best for me but:Why do I loose my settings (have to set it for every new torrent again)I know how to set my speed optimal, but I have to do it over and over again! With the best regards,Joeres
Switeck
You can set global settings but not per-torrent settings besides max connections PER torrent.
Joeres
Dear ........In our country it is forbidden to permit others to send audio and video files from any computer to another, but they cannot forbit me to send something, a part of a file. Therefore I have to set upload speed not too high for I do not want to get in problems with the law. But in the program, the standard upload is the maximum upload speed - I think that should be lower to start with or easier to adapt! Now I have to enter the bandwidth option 3 or 4 times before I reach optimal (for me) upload speed! Upload speed should stay below <=8kb/s for above mentioned reasons!with the best regardsJoeres
Switeck
Did you ever run Speed Guide (CTRL+G)?The xx/96k setting should be about right to keep upload speed at or below 8 KiloBYTES/sec.
