calumc Posted June 9, 2007 Report Posted June 9, 2007 Hi, I've been using µtorrent for quite a while now and everything was working perfectly until last night when i decided i'd try and set up my netopia router for a static ip.I got all that set up fine but i noticed that my port wasnt open. I tried all i could think of and eventually gave up and reset everything to factory settings. But when i set up the NAT again the port wasnt open, ive tried countless numbers of ports and i can't get anything to work. Can someone please help me?
DreadWingKnight Posted June 9, 2007 Report Posted June 9, 2007 When you set up the static IP, did you set your computer's IP inside or outside of the range the router gives out?
calumc Posted June 9, 2007 Author Report Posted June 9, 2007 i've abandoned all hope of a static ip, i think my isp has done something to disable them.everything is now reset to factory settings (apart from the NAT)
DreadWingKnight Posted June 9, 2007 Report Posted June 9, 2007 Static IP for port forwarding is NOT for the router. It is for your computer. Now please, answer the question.
calumc Posted June 9, 2007 Author Report Posted June 9, 2007 to be honest im now not quite sure what i did, im connected to the router via a wireless usb stick and i think i just tried everything until i got something to work, i could get a connection perfectly but the port wasn't open.I have the settings on the computer reset also.
DreadWingKnight Posted June 9, 2007 Report Posted June 9, 2007 What model netopia router is it specifically.
calumc Posted June 9, 2007 Author Report Posted June 9, 2007 its a 2247-02 and i've just upgarded it to 7.7.0r6 to try and fix the problem
DreadWingKnight Posted June 9, 2007 Report Posted June 9, 2007 http://portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/Netopia/2247NWG-VGx/Utorrent.htmWhen setting up the static IP for your computer, did you set it up inside or outside the range specified in the DHCP server section?
calumc Posted June 9, 2007 Author Report Posted June 9, 2007 im not sure, but i reset all tcp/ip setting afterwrds
DreadWingKnight Posted June 9, 2007 Report Posted June 9, 2007 Many routers will refuse to forward within the DHCP range. Yours is probably one of them.
calumc Posted June 9, 2007 Author Report Posted June 9, 2007 well i had everything working perfectly for ages before last night. Is there anthing i can do to fix the problem?
