00
Great job! It's clean and simple (Both the page and the source).Suggestions:If image loading is off, you can't see the <h1> title. Would using a <img> tag be a better idea because you can use the alt tag?"At A Glance"=>"At a Glance""You're probably wondering why everybody is switching to µTorrent."=>"Everyone is switching to µTorrent. Here's why.""Micro sized, yet so Feature-filled"=>"Micro Sized, yet Feature-Filled""just slightly over 100KB in size"=>write the exact size. Yes, it needs to be updated often, but I think it sounds better if it is exact."bittorrent"=>"BitTorrent"Under "Doesn't Hog Resources""Take back your computer with µTorrent. With light and efficient memory use (less than 6mb typically) and a low CPU load, you can run just about anything while torrenting."Under "Skinnable and Localized""Change the icon, toolbar graphics and status icons to suit your mood. Or your desktop. Choose from our wide selection or simply make your own.µTorrent is localized to __ languages. If your language isn't available, you can easily add your own!"[automatic switching is very common; the edit existing translations part sounds as if our current translations are not very good] Under "Actively Developed and Improved""The developer puts in a lot of time working on new features and making µTorrent even more user-friendly. Releases only come out when they're ready, with no schedule pressures, so bugs are few. Any bugs that slip through are quickly addressed and fixed."[is scheduled release common?][Maybe contrast the release speed of µT with BitComet and Azureus instead of concentrating on bugs?]"Screenshots. See µTorrent in action."=>"Screenshots" OR "See µTorrent in action."It would be even better if it is valid XHTML like the current site.Hope I don't sound too picky
ignorantcow
Thanks everyone, for both nice/bad comments and good suggestions nice, I really like the web layout you made ignorantcow Suggestions:1) 'At A Glance' should be in the first box, 'Announcements' should be in the second box and'Latest Release' should be in the third box . 2) Maybe you should have less space above and under = "You're probably wondering why everybody is switching to µTorrent."1. Will do.2. There's a reason I put so much white space there- to act as a seperator of sorts. The layout is already quite messy and crowded, much white space is needed.ignorantcow: As usual I can't keep my hands off of other's work, but with the lack of contrast on my monitor, I can hardly see the different colors in the menu. These colors are very similar to the original ones, but makes the page look clearer from my view at least: div#navi { background: #dfefd7; }div#navi ul li span { background: #d4e4d1; }div#navi ul li a:hover { background: #e8f8e6; text-decoration: underline; }Edit: I forgot to say Great job Miffo: some people are color blind, and someone on this board is having trouble specifically with the color green, thus it's important that contrast is as high as possible. Ignorantcow: maybe a secondary .css file might be in order to make just the font colors more legible for those who can't see very well. It could be made clickable and the change is virtually instantaneous.Yeah, Keloran has suggested this- different style sheets, instant switching. I will definitely make a "high contrast" version.00:I see how <img> would serve better than <h1> in this case- but the benefits of using <h1> outweighs <img> imo. <h1> will provide nice, large, bold text to older browsers incapable of CSS2, of which the user is probably on dialup. <h1> is also the "starting point" of the whole document- the title, which it is. People browsing without images- probably on dialup. They're missing out on so much on other sites anyway- a small header image wouldn't be missed. They should expect this to happen when they turned off images I'm not so good at language, those were typed out by Firon and Smoovious I think. I will change it to what you suggest though- can you write something for "Actively Developed and Improved"?As for valid xhtml- it definitely will be 100% valid. I can't say how embarrassed I am for forgetting to correct those errors before making the url public **
crz_06
think layout #1 imediately gives a overview of what can be expected (in a graphical way), while #2 displays a more corporate idenitity (one that one doesn't find often for software applications websites). One realy have to read before one has an idea what utorrent is all about. Personally i think #1 has more potential. indeed it resembles something like mozilla site. The green header can be easily replaced by one of the choosen design logo, making a nice header. #2 has to much info on main page which could easily be placed under a tab/new page. Who cares about a list older releases?, just give me a prober DOWNLOAD button of utorrent of the latest version. Apart from that the color schema is to 'pastel' to less contrast. Think it might be a bit more 'present', it apears shy.But thanks for taking the time to spend your time develling this site for "us". The css implementation is nicely done, congrats

BloodStaindHurricane
They look good...but, you probably shouldn't use parts of other designs on the net, in your designs.

00
Suggestion for "Actively Developed and Supported"The developer spends a lot of time working on new features and making µTorrent even more user-friendly. On average, a new version is released every 8 days. With an extensive FAQ, an active forum and an IRC channel, any questions you may have will be answered quickly. froop
No good. You don't want to be setting a time between releases even if it is roughly or on average.

lite
nice work on the site design ignorantcow, it's very clean and stylish and looks like a solid basis to continue withit does kind of remind me of redchair software's site somehow, but it might be just the pixelfont that caught my attraction
Dekaritae
Here is an icon I made. It looks like the current icon because I like the current icon.http://maur.shellscape.org/icons/App_µTorrent_Icon.zipUpdate: I added an alternative version with a cat's paw print similar to 1c3d0g's concept, instead of the "µ" shape. It does not look terrible. There is a soft-bordered version and a bold-bordered one version of each shape.

1c3d0g
Dekaritae: nice work, I love it! Your soft border version is 10x better than the current icon, which looks very rough on the edges... Now if only we could convince Ludde to include it in the next version...

anoxan
http://img419.imageshack.us/img419/7950/butterfly7ah.th.pngThink i might have gone over the top. But this is fun xDa butterfly...light, fast, short life (relation to fast updates), random flight patterns (random peers..?)simple, yet attractive.small..well, some are small.I wonder why there haven't been more butterflies in the mix?oh, and it'd go perfectly resting on the top of ignorantcow's new layout header..maybe some sort of watermark in the background of the white...I like the tribal guy. if it were chosen it would definitely replace the "µ" image instantly. then again, so would any of BSH's or shrill's submissions.however, from what I've read, ludde wanted a more friendly feel to the logo, and you can't make a bee look friendly without making it look, well, childish. a butterfly accomplishes ludde's goals, and more. I can't really think of the more though, as I'm sufffering from acute insomnia which, as you all know, kinda kills your charisma/reasoning/something I'm missing.....loloh btw, you all are thinking way too hard on these logos and their interpretations.another thought: µsoft...microsoft..logo=flag......why flag?pay no attention to the last few lines, they're off-topic...maybe edit: oh, and butterflies don't look childish lol
