michiwichi
I've forwarded my port, used the port check and it said the port was open. The download speed at first was decent. Then for some reason, the red light comes on, and I do the port check again, I get this message:Error! Port 61181 does not appear to be open. Please see www.portforward.com for more information about how to map a port. Please make absolutely sure that PeerGuardian2 or Protowall is allowing utorrent.com ( 72.20.34.145) in either of those programs. Those of you using ipfilter.dat should make sure the list does not include the website's IP. After making sure of this, re-run this test by refreshing the page (F5). After closing and opening utorrent, the ligth went back to green, and the port check said everthing was fine. Then I left my computer on overnight, and in the morning, the download speed has dropped drastically from ~100KB/s to ~10KB/s, and the red light had came on. Did the port check and I get the same error message again. This time closing and opening utorrent again doesn't help! I had to turn the power on and off on the router to fix it.But I haven't changed ANYTHING!!! Can anybody help?
Lord Alderaan
Any software firewalls?Does only resetting the router help?Only thing I can think of right now is ISP/Router/SoftwareFirewall blocking ports based the number of incoming connections. michiwichi
No software firewalls, just the standard Windows firewall, but I checked to make sure that the port was allowed through.I've only started using utorrent last night, so I this has only happened to me twice, and in the second time, resetting the router helped (it didn't occur to me to do that the first time around). Lord Alderaan
Select your connection in the speed guide. See if it helps. If the problem keeps occurring reduce the number of connections total and per torrent to as low as 40 (total) / 20 (per torrent). If problem still occurs try directly hooking up your computer to the modem and setup up internet that way.
michiwichi
I did actually use the speed guide to set up the parameters. But I'll also try o reduce the number of connections like you suggested. My modem / router is a 2 in 1, so won't be able to connect directly. Lord Alderaan
Hmmz long shot but try setting your comp as DMZ in the router/modem.I'd say the problem lies in the modem/router and I hope either DMZ, low connections or both helps resolving the problem.
