vicadi Posted June 27, 2007 Report Share Posted June 27, 2007 I have been downloading a couple of files, when utorrent is open my network speed became slow, so when i go to work my wife turn of utorrent, so she can use Internet at a normal speed.ok, today she try to turn it off, and appear a message, she didnt read it, and put cancel, and try again to close it.when i came back from work, i open it and on the status it said Error: Can't open .torrent file (And the location of the file).the icon before the name of the file is a red square with an "X", the size show 0, completed = 0, downloaded = a number GB, done = 0.00%, speeds = 0, peers = 0, down speed = 0, up speed = 0.do you have a clue of what the problem can be?????thnx Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
creedsucks Posted July 4, 2007 Report Share Posted July 4, 2007 I had this same problem, and I still have no idea what caused it. The difference is when I could double-click a torrent file, it would open in utorrent, then every other torrent would do what you're describing. In addition, opening the torrent file would make it copy itself; for example: I would open 113.torrent, then it would open in utorrent, and copy itself so in addition to 113.torrent, it would create 113 1.torrent. I (temporarily) fixed this problem by uninstalling utorrent, doing a system search for utorrent and deleting anything that showed up in the registry or in program files, then reinstalling. However, it started again just a few moments ago. Rather than double-clicking to open the file, I tried going to file and add torrent. Didn't work. I even tried it in utorrent 1.7. Didn't work. In short, I don't know what to tell you but maybe it's comforting to know that someone else has the same problem. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I left Utorrent up all night and wake up to find utorrent in a state like the original poster describedif I double on the file to open the folder I am able to access whats in the folder but I cannot upload anymoreI am using Beta 1.7 and my OS is Vista. There was a update to Vista either yesterday or the day before . Maybe this could be the cause of the problem?Edit: I went and removed all the torrents that were giving me the problem. I went back to the sites I had gotten them from and redownloaded them. It checked all the files and voila, problem is solved. I keep wondering if switching to another client would work but I'm really comfortable with this one (used to use abc).Hey creed I'm trying the reinstall.... seems to be working so far, just have to re customize it again.
