arrirc
HelloI am using uTorrent 1.6 build 474.I have been using this program for last one year but I never faced the following problem. Recently I completely upgraded my system and I have two HDDs now, one SATAII 160GB and other IDE Barracuda 7200rpm. Recently as I tried to save a huge file [of about 9GB], the uTorrent after some time gave me error that "the file can not be saved...either the disk is full or it is accessed by some other program"..I can not remeber the exact error message but after this if I press cancel a RED cross comes beside the name of the torrent. If I Force Re Check then it shows that the torrent has been there and the downloaded part of the file...but as I try to download it again, the same error message comes back. The partition where I am saving the file is NTFS..so there should not be any error because of this reason.I am the Administrator and uTorrent has full read/write access [as far as my knowledge goes].Could someone please help me?Thank you. Now I have excluded the whole drive from its indexing service.Do you think this will do? Do I need to turn off the Windows Indexing service too?thank you again. Firon
You might need to exclude the drive from both indexers.
Ultima
Windows indexing pre-Vista = suck. So yeah. But even indexing in Vista causes issues with µTorrent. In short, yes, you should disable indexing.Edit: Or that ^
arrirc
Could anyone please guide me to a thread for a guide to configure uTorrent so that it can perform best [if a thread like that exist that is]? Thank you all for your reply.I am not sure Firon that how exactly can I exclude one of the partitions from Windows' indexing service! :?
Ultima
The setup guide. If you have problems with your connection after that, check the first link in my signature. As for the indexing, if you can't find a place to add exclusions, then you're just going to have to disable the service entirely. Ultima
Get Process Explorer from sysinternals.com, run it, File > Save, then post the contents of the saved process list in the .txt file here.

You might need to try getting rid of them one by one to see if the problem gets alleviated. Try uninstalling the AVG first. And what's with that McAfee service...? arrirc
The McAfee service is a component of McAfee Site Advisor. I shall let you know about the result of uninstallation.Thank you. EDIT*****03.07.2007Hello UltimaIt seems that the trouble was being caused by the fact that XP was not recognizing the HDD properly 'cause there were some problems in the jumper settings of the PATA drive and the DVD drive, both of which are connected by the same IDE label.I have changed the jumpers and it seems that the things are working properly now. I would like to see for another two or three days before really relaxing about this problem andconsider it as resolved. Thank you very much for your support.
