µTorrent 1.7 Release Candidate 6 (build 3295)

I have a very annoying problem, which is sometimes when I close utorrent and open it. It starts rechecking the files that were downloading when I closed the program.

This happened whith all the betas I guess. And also with Version 1.7 (build 3170).

Also sometimes when this problem happens some of the torrents that I have specified certain files inside them to be downloaded. utorrent reselects all the of files of that torrent.

My OS:

XP SP2

So what's wrong?

The beta builds from the latter part of the beta testing phase are still up, if you want to try them. You'll find the link to the newest beta in the beta announcement thread, and you can then edit the URLs by changing the build numbers to go back to previous builds. Build numbers can be found in the changelog.

- Change: Show the local bandwidth in the status bar and in the speed graph (the latter in purple and blue)

I know you spoke about this problem a long time but I don't understand all what you said (I'm french user).

I have three computers at home and only mine uses µTorrent. So, why I have blue and purple lines on the graph ?

UP !

on RC 4

Step 1: Have 3 torrents at 'Force Seeding' and 1 on Force Recheck

Step 2: After Recheck is done, stop all 4 torrents

Step 3: Restart all 4 using 'Normal Start' not 'Force Start'

Result: All 4 will enter 'Force Recheck'

Done twice, same result :(

I can't confirm. I just created a new torrent, with randomly ordered trackers, and it remains in the order I inputted. If you feel like pushing this as a bug report, create a new thread in the appropriate forum.

Edit: And you're still not being clear about what you mean by "click."

... clicking as in double-clicking? Looking in the General tab, or the torrent properties? Because I surely don't see a full tracker list by simply clicking on a torrent...

At any rate, at least one other person I've spoken to hasn't been able to reproduce this, but if you're still convinced there is a bug, created a dedicated thread in the bugs section of the forum. The devs do look in that forum.

I cannot reproduce this bug either. I tried creating a torrent with announce URLs:

http://tpb.tracker.thepiratebay.org/announce

http://a.aaa.aaa.com/announce

http://cc.cccc.net/announce

http://bb.bbbb.net/announce

thepiratebay.org is displayed (and works) and cycles in the GUI with cccc.net. After a couple of cycles cccc.net disappears and is replaced by bbbb.net because cccc.net is obviously not working and the 'backup' tier bbbb.net is tried. bbbb.net comes back again after a couple cycles, etc. However, aaa.com is never displayed (because thepiratebay.org works) and therefore the behaviour is exactly as expected.

In short: thepiratebay.org <-> cccc.net and thepiratebay.org <-> bbbb.net but NEVER aaa.com <-> cccc.net/bbbb.net

--- 2007-05-22: Version 1.7 (build 1952)

- Feature: Now remembers which log settings you had on each run when changed from the logger context menu

You're still using build 1875? There is no bug with the Logger tab. The current builds do save the logger tab context menu options just fine, and have ever since 1952 (over a month ago now).

what you are saying, is actually - save the state of the logger selections of the user - for the next session. I agree - but we should do it for all the logger settings/check-marks. Since uT save the last open tab state for the next session, it is only logical that it will save it's internal state/selections. Actually - this seems like a bug to me...

So - I hope they fix it in the final release...

No, this was NOT what I was saying! Logging errors logs too much.

What I would like is just that UPnP be logged, just as it was before..

Is that too much to ask??

Yes, I also like the old UPnP logging better. I guess UPnP dectection was "hidden" because of all noobs getting confused about the NAT-PMP and UPnP error when it's not needed/available.

My suggestion:

Set NAT-PMP disabled as default. (Those who need it probably knows what it is)

Set UPnP as enabled as default and keep the old logging.

@Teerex: yes, it's too much ... ;)

ok, I get this kind of log on my system, don't you get it ? :

[22:51:38] UPnP: Discovered host: http://192.168.2.138:80/upnp/IGD.xml

[22:51:38] UPnP: Mapped TCP port 32456 -> 192.168.2.2:32456

[22:51:38] UPnP: Getting external IP

[22:51:39] UPnP: Got external IP: 82.81.215.211

edit:

...to get this always, just check log-errors + verbose

If you make a torrent with trackers.

http://BBB

http://AAA

http://BBB

http://AAA

Then if you click on that torrent file the order will change too AAA, BBB.

http://AAA

http://BBB

http://AAA

http://BBB

The original torrent file is correct it's the µTorrent client that alters the listing.

Going from memory on the spec -- It is expected that the listing is altered, and required that the trackers within each tier (those entries without intervening spaces) are randomized. I'd have to go read the spec again to be certain, but I think it's that the randomization of the tiers ensures that the start/stop messages are received consistently and the randomization within the tiers ensures that load balancing occurs. If I'm wrong, don't shoot me. But I know I'm close.

If it were consistently placing it in alphabetical order, then this would be a problem. It sounds like several people are saying that it is not placing them in alpha order.
