no router, no firewall, yet still red light in utorrent

basically my problem is described by the title, no router, no firewall, but theres still the red light indicating that i have a firewall/router limiting my traffic and that i have to open up a port so that others can connect to me, i have no ideas left, theres nothing to my awareness that could be blocking ports, thanks for all the help

Perhaps you are using a modem with router function or your ISP blocks p2p traffic.

my modem is a motorola surfboard 5101i and it doesnt have router function, and my isp doesn block it, i already asked

The modem is known to cause NAT issues. If your computer is connected directly to the modem, and you're seeing the NAT issue, then there's nothing you (or we) can do about it besides you going out to buy a new modem.

To see if in Fact that modem is the Problem have a look at this guide:

However, apparently some ISPs have found a way to "remote configure" these modems to take advantage of a legitimate feature of the modem to BLOCK the ports needed for games and filesharing.

i tried that but nope, it didnt have that IP format (192.168.100.xxx) its was more like "10. ..." etc

What was the Exact IP, as there are several Families of Private IP types and 10.xx.xx.xx is one of them. there is also 192.168.x.x / 172. x.x.x

172.16.x.x - 172.31.x.x to be more precise

So long as the first octet is 10, then it's a RFC1918 IP. In short, emongev is behind a NAT. Ditching that modem is the best way to get out of this mess, as far as I am concerned.
