foob
I noticed I have uploaded about 200mB to a person who continues to show he has 0% of file and I have downloaded nothing from him.Is he using some hack to stay at 0% to avoid uploading and get a higher download rate?Shouldn't this be something obvious for utorrent to auto ban him? Firon
No, he likely just disabled sending have messages to seeders.
foob
Oh I wasn't a seeder though.Isn't there an advantage in being able to continuously lie about having nothing to share (being new)? I read that you have increased chance of others sharing something with you. Of course this may be slower than sharing, but they don't have to use any bandwidth uploading at all.On one occasion, I was sending 10kB/s (on average) to everybody who was sharing, and 200 kB/s to someone with 0% continuously. Kind of sucks that people who share can only afford 10kB/s while the guy who is possibly cheating gets 200 kB/s from me. And no I wasn't a seed in this case too. Switeck
What was the BitTorrent client (Azureus, BitComet, µTorrent, etc?) of the weird 0% one?Does there seem to be any similarity between their ip address and yours?(You may need to turn on/off Resolve IPs to determine if it's on the same subnet and/or ISP as you.) foob
I think two were bitComet, and one was unknown.Their IPs were unresolved, and from the asia-pacific region. I just started downloading files of asian origin and noticed this issue.Anyway no big deal, just wondering whether it's intentional cheating or some software bug. DreadWingKnight
With bitcomet, who knows?
Switeck
It could even be both with BitComet, they have deliberately broken compatibility with the BitTorrent protocol on more than 1 occasion. Their upload slot handling is still a sore spot for me.
