Ultima Posted July 4, 2007 Report Posted July 4, 2007 Green light, but port remains closed...? What ISP are you using?
bajangrant Posted July 4, 2007 Author Report Posted July 4, 2007 i'm in barbados my current isp is caribsurf (cable & wireless)
funchords Posted July 4, 2007 Report Posted July 4, 2007 When you go to www.whatismyip.com, does the IP displayed there match the IP reported by "IPCONFIG /ALL"?How are you determining that your port is not actually open? Do you understand that it may take several minutes after joining a swarm before new clients learn about your IP and port and start connecting to you?Do you have a room for rent? I need to go to the Caribbean!
bajangrant Posted July 4, 2007 Author Report Posted July 4, 2007 when i went to the website to check my ip, i'm getting a completely different ip address. i have set up my static ip address as 192.168 blah blah blah, but the ip address reported by the website is 69.73.*.*. what does this mean? I left my cpu on overnight thinking i would be in dl heaven when i woke up nothing had changed i will still dl @ o.okbps and it stayed that way all day. it still days so now.If you can solve this mystery forget paying rent come on down!Edit (Ultima): IP edited out.

I'm sorry, I should have noticed that you were behind that Paradyne router. The IP address that you see on www.whatismyip.com needs to match the WAN address that you see in your configuration/status pages on your Paradyne router (and not IPCONFIG /ALL).If those IPs don't match, you need to ask your ISP.If they do match, you need to configure your router. The easiest way is to enable UPnP in uTorrent and in your router. Configuration will be automatic. See page 42 of this manual:http://www.zhone.com/support/manuals/docs/62/6212-A2-GB22-00.pdfOr, if you want to manually configure your router, here is the page with the steps to follow:http://portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/Paradyne/6212-I3/Utorrent.htm
bajangrant Posted July 4, 2007 Author Report Posted July 4, 2007 thanks a million, one more quick question...does that mean that i should change my static ip address from the 192 to a new one i find with the 69.73.*.*.Edit (Ultima): IP edited out.
bajangrant Posted July 4, 2007 Author Report Posted July 4, 2007 I'm now getting a dl rate of 0.5 kb/s (at the most) i have a green light but when i check the port it says it's closed. yet when i first get the green light before any of the dl start it says the port is open. it just says downloading but nothing is actually dl, and there is plenty of peers and enough time to connect/swarm. and my light is still green. could this be a router issue?
Ultima Posted July 5, 2007 Report Posted July 5, 2007 Go to your router config, and find out its WAN IP address. Assuming the WAN IP is in the format w.x.y.z, what is z?
bajangrant Posted July 5, 2007 Author Report Posted July 5, 2007 my Wan ip address is 72.*.*.224. and my static ip is still 192.*.*136
bedstide Posted August 11, 2007 Report Posted August 11, 2007 i am using the same router how do i find my wan ip adress i am only seeing a lan ip adress
