Older1991
Okay I am new to this program so I have no idea what I am doing and I started to download a torrent which was already linked at a website and all I had to do was save it to a folder. I had about half way downloaded and then the seeds started to disappear and now there is none and the tracker status says "connection was reset by peer" what do I do? Do I have to find a new torrent and start all over and if so how do I do that? Can I search for new seeds and continue with same file? I am so confused and frustrated, help would be greatly appreciated. ThanksP.S. I checked up to 20 pages for a similar thread but I couldn't find one so sorry if a repost. And i meant "what the hell do I do?" in the title but it didn't all fit.
Switeck
"connection was reset by peer" is typically what you'd see if your ISP is blocking BitTorrent traffic.
funchords
> "connection was reset by peer" what do I do?Just wait -- this is a temporary condition. Usually it means that something somewhere is overloaded. If your upload limit is set too high for your connection, it may be your side that is overloaded. Do a speed test, and then set your upload limit to no more than 27 KB/s per 256 Kbps of your tested upload speed. > Do I have to find a new torrent and start all over and if so how do I do that? Probably not. If the swarm was well seeded, there will usually be at least one copy of each piece somewhere in the swarm. While nobody has a single complete copy, all the pieces are in the swarm to make one. > Can I search for new seeds and continue with same file? If you find another torrent on another system for the same exact file(s), go ahead and download it and load it into uTorrent. If the hash ID is the same, uTorrent will ask if you want to import the trackers into your existing download. Say "Yes." If the hash ID is different, but the file(s) are exactly the same, you can remove your existing download (do not delete the data), then open the new Torrent file. Use the dialog box to change the download location to the folder or file from the previous incomplete download. uTorrent will check the files and, if any of your downloaded data passes the check, then uTorrent will use it.
