Computer Guru
Hi Guys,With µTorrent, downloading a > 4GB file onto a FAT32 partition will give a cryptic "Not enough free space" error.FAT32 doesn't support files greater than 4GB in size - though if you force their creation manually (via the Win32 API like µTorrent is doing) it'll create them.At any rate, there's a bug in µTorrent:1) Either it shouldn't allow downloading a single file greater than 4GB in size to a FAT32 partition2) Or if it does do so, and creates the file (as it is doing now) it shouldn't error out.At the moment my file is 3.99GB in size, and µTorrent won't continue although it can if it goes ahead and forces the creation anyway. So either don't download or do it properly....Stupid FAT32! DreadWingKnight
The bug in the error message comes from the operating system, not from uTorrent. This has been discussed before.
Computer Guru
OK. Nevertheless, it is possible for uTorrent to create files greater 4GB in size on FAT32 - if it so wishes. It doesn't really matter where the error message comes from, it should be changed. Other programs do it too... If the filesystem is FAT32 and a file exists in the package that is > 4GB, it should either error out nicely from the very beginning or force it through ignoring the error message.
