Dreaq Posted July 10, 2007 Report Posted July 10, 2007 Hi.I hope this is in the right section, if not, can someone move it to the right one? Thanks. Okay, so my speeds are averaging around 6kp/s. Right now I'm downloading a file of around 560mb. There are apparently 75 seeders. I'm connected to 24 of them, and I'm downloading at an average rate of 16kb/s. The /!\ button is showing at the bottom, reading that I have no incoming connections. I'm using a Motorola Surfboard (SB5100E) Modem. There is no router, just the modem. My internet connection seems fine. Speeds are as they should be, Limewire is working sufficiently, I have no problems at all. Just with torrents. Recently I was downloading a file of 700mb, and it took me 2 days with 25 seeders. The current file I'm downloading (the 560mb one), has currently passed for 5 hours and 50 minutes, and 338mb downloaded. 4 hours and 50 minutes are remaining. I've testing if my "ports are forwarded". The test always says that my ports are not forwarded. Again, I don't have a router. Can someone help me, or give me a hand with sorting my speed out? Or at least why my speeds are slow and what I can do to fix it? Thanks again. Edit: I've also tried the guide on how to raise my speeds, but still no luck!
Coolio10 Posted July 10, 2007 Report Posted July 10, 2007 If you have no router than only your firewall can block utorrent. Close your firewall if you have one.
Dreaq Posted July 10, 2007 Author Report Posted July 10, 2007 Actually, my firewall is always turned off when I run those programs. And Windows Firewall is disabled.
Coolio10 Posted July 10, 2007 Report Posted July 10, 2007 Your modem has a built in firewall or router?
Coolio10 Posted July 10, 2007 Report Posted July 10, 2007 Type your IP into any browser. If your modem does have a firewall or router than a menu should show up.
Ultima Posted July 11, 2007 Report Posted July 11, 2007 No, not your IP. Your default gateway's IP, and it'll only work if the default gateway IP starts with 192.168.x.x, 172.16.x.x-172.31.x.x, or 10.x.x.x.
Dreaq Posted July 11, 2007 Author Report Posted July 11, 2007 Nope. Just get the Unable To Connect page. My default gateway's ip begins with 89.205.x.x
Ultima Posted July 11, 2007 Report Posted July 11, 2007 The SurfBoard is being stupid, as usual. It acts like a router even though it's supposed to be just a modem. The only thing you can do about the port issue is to buy another modem -- not SurfBoard.
Dreaq Posted July 11, 2007 Author Report Posted July 11, 2007 Oh well. What can one do? . Everyone I know with the same ISP has the same modem! Haha! Thanks for the help, =]
Ultima Posted July 12, 2007 Report Posted July 12, 2007 Indeed, it the modem is very temperamental. Some people experience this problem with it, while others are perfectly fine :/
