Aeiyv
Hello everyone. I have a wireless connection using a linksys (WRT54G I believe) network card attached to my laptop. It connects to the linksys modem. My problem is port forwarding, I will go through what I do in steps.1. I open utorrent and go to the speed guide.2. I run a speed test and click on my upload speed The results are download speed: 1223 Kb/sWhile my upload speed is 264 Kb/sI set the speed on the speed guide to xx/256k3. Next I portforward. I try using a specific port so I uncheck the randomize ports at startup.4. I open Internet explorer and type in the IP address necessary.5. I go to applications and gaming tab and type in the necessary port (I use 41954 - 41954)***6. I save settings and type in the same settings onto utorrent in speed guide.7. I click to test if the port is forwarded properly but it says it isnt and I guess this is my main problem.I turned off the firewall and still nothing. I did this same setting before and it worked but it suddenly went from green to yellow one day and its been that way since.PLease help*** Could someone tell me what port range i can use?I also used this site to help me:http://www.zeropaid.com/news/6184/uTorrent+-+A+Beginner's+guide+to+BitTorrent+downloading
5618
Turning off your firewall, unless it is the Windows one, will probably not stop it from blocking incoming connections. Furthermore, you may need to restart your router for the settings to take effect. It's stupid but I've seen it so often in the past. And make sure you forwarded to the correct LAN IP and that the LAN IP didn't change after a router reboot.
Aeiyv
Sorry im not really a techy but could u specify what LAN IP is? Thank you though, I will give it a try
Roy1491
turn off windows firewall and get yourself a decent firewall i recommand zonealarm. LAN IP means your IP address that you set up (static) outside the DNS servers that the DHCP uses. just pick a port and and open it in your router's interface. reboot your PC restart the router. and voila.recommanded ports: anything between 50000-65000 since they are not blocked by ISPs. good luck. Aeiyv
Ok so I've tried out both ways suggested by Roy and 5618. @ Roy, I think you meant that I should restart router and restart pc and then pick a port to open in my routers interface. When I forward the port first and then restart, everything goes blank (please tell me if thats supposed to happen or if Im doing something wrong.)So heres what I did, I restarted my router (hard reset) and then my PC (actually a laptop but w/e)I open utorrent and set the port I want to use in preferences. I then go to my internet browser and access the router by typing in the IP in the address barI set the port (50001 -50001) and then input my IP (LAN) and click enable.I then go to utorrent and test if the port is forwarded properly but it doesnt work still...The first time I did this, it was successful. the yellow turned to green on utorrent. A little while later though, it went back to yellow. Please help, and thank you for your replies*** Also could you tell me how I can access my LAN IP just to make sure? I do run, then ipconfig, and use the IP there. for some reason though when I browse the internet it says my IP is 206.xx.209.xxxIs it supposed to be like that? Switeck
There are NUMEROUS posts here about people whose problems were solved by uninstalling Zone Alarm. Even disabling ZA wasn't enough, they had to completely uninstall it.
