Destroyertje Posted July 15, 2007 Report Posted July 15, 2007 Is this working? a lot of guides says it really helps but does it? Like putting the settings to 100 or 50 and utorrent 80 or 40?
Firon Posted July 15, 2007 Report Posted July 15, 2007 All it does is help when you find yourself unable to browse while torrenting (when it's not caused by your router croaking).
Destroyertje Posted July 15, 2007 Author Report Posted July 15, 2007 thx then i'm not going to use it
5618 Posted July 15, 2007 Report Posted July 15, 2007 Well, personally I would suggest setting it to 50 or 100. However, you don't really need to increase the net.max_halfopen value in µTorrent.
Switeck Posted July 15, 2007 Report Posted July 15, 2007 Increasing the net.max_halfopen value in µTorrent very much at all above the default of 8 can actually cause a DECREASE in download speed and potentially a major decrease in upload speed.BitTorrent 'handshakes' take some bandwidth beyond the normal TCP/IP connections being made, so trying to do 40+ at once adds up.
