BigCol4 Posted July 15, 2007 Report Posted July 15, 2007 I have used utorrent for a few years and have never had any problems with the updates but after installing the new version I am unable to download anything. I use Windows XP and my firewall is Windows Live OneCare. I have tried a download from OpenOffice.org as requested on other posts but with no luck. My port is forwarding and I haven't changed any of my settings. The seeds and peers lists fills up but I still get no speeds.Presumably I am not the only one who has experienced this problem. If anybody can help it would be greatly appreciated.P.S. I can also only close utorrent my selecting Exit in the File menu. If I click on the close box (red X in corner) it just minimises the page. Anybody else encountered this?
DreadWingKnight Posted July 15, 2007 Report Posted July 15, 2007 Remove and re-add all firewall rules for uTorrent in any firewalls you have.
BigCol4 Posted July 16, 2007 Author Report Posted July 16, 2007 I tried that but I still am getting no download speed.
DreadWingKnight Posted July 16, 2007 Report Posted July 16, 2007 Who is your ISP?Who do they get their bandwidth from?
BigCol4 Posted July 17, 2007 Author Report Posted July 17, 2007 I hope this is what your asking for:My ISP is TalkTalk through the CarPhone Warehouse in the UK.I don't know where they get there bandwith from (I don't know how to find this out) but my speed is 5.8Mbps.
Switeck Posted July 18, 2007 Report Posted July 18, 2007 A search for TalkTalk here would probably tell you about various ways that ISP sucks.I am almost positive they throttle/block.
BigCol4 Posted July 18, 2007 Author Report Posted July 18, 2007 I knew they restricted at certain times of the day.At least it's up working again, so feel free to close this post.Thankyou for the advice DreadWingKnight and Switeck - very much appreciated.Does anybody know why uTorrent can only be closed via the File menu though? Its kind of annoying
OttifantSir Posted July 18, 2007 Report Posted July 18, 2007 Look under Setting -> General and uncheck "Close to tray"Personally I like it, as I am wont to hit the "X" instead of the "_" when trying to minimize it. Besides, uTorrent runs pretty much 24/7 so why not?
