EK
I keep getting this message " Unable to map UPnP Port.", and I'm unable to download any torrents as a result of it.
5618
UPnP and not being able to download have nothing to do with one another.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Universal_Plug_and_Play
DreadWingKnight
No you're not unable to download because of it.UPnP mapping does not affect the ability to download. If you can't download, it's because of something else.
EK
Oh well, I always get a red icon, with an arrowing point down. Is that the same thing?

EK
Well, what exactly should I do? That happens to me for every torrent that I try to download.
5618
Look at the tracker status message in the General tab.
EK
For some reason I can't read. The tab is too small to read, and I can't enlarge it.
DreadWingKnight
right-click it and copy it then.
EK
Ok I got the message. It says " No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it."
Switeck
That error message sounds like a BitTorrent-hostile ISP blocking/breaking your connections.
EK
What can I do about it? Any way to fix it?
Switeck
If it is indeed a BitTorrent-hostile ISP, it's probably YOUR ISP that's hostile if you're having this problem on most/all torrents. The only guaranteed solution to that is to change to a non-hostile ISP...one that actually gives you the rated speeds they advertise. Some things to try before abandoning your current ISP are encryption settings in µTorrent, proxy servers, computer configurations, OpenOffice torrents (to test speeds), and lastly even replace network cables if easy (and cheap) to do. Firon
I don't remember Optimum Online doing stuff like that. They will cap your connection if you use it too much, but not this. Could be a recent change, though.Do you have a firewall or AV program?
Ultima
Not even just using too much; IIRC, they throttle any of their users, and you actually have to go complain to them to get the advertised speed. There was definitely a large thread of people complaining about throttling on the dslreports.com forum, but I'm not really sure how that went down (since I didn't bother keeping tabs on it).Agreed, it could easily be a recent development, and history makes it all the more likely.@EK: Does this happen with every tracker you try? How about torrents from here?
EK
It's weird, because I never had this kind of problem before. A couple of months back, it worked fine.It does happen with every tracker. Are you sure you gave me the right link, I don't see any torrents there. Ultima
Make sure you have javascript enabled on your browser, and pick stuff on the dropdown lists (preferably, the latest version of OpenOffice.org).
