Sardesai62
I am using USR 9108 and am told that I need to configure the Port Triggering to Open the port(s) required by Utorrent. However I find that for Port Triggering I need to provide the Triggering Outgoing Ports along with the Open Incoming Port range. Can someone help me with the Ports that I need to use for Triggering "Outgoing Ports". The incoming ports would the one the clients will use in their Utorrent. Thanks in advance
DreadWingKnight
Port Triggering does not work properly for bittorrent (or any p2p) applications. You need to use static forwarding.http://portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/USRobotics/9108-SureConnect/Utorrent.htm
Sardesai62
Thanks, USR 9108 does not support Static and DHCP addresses simulteneously. (I had a D-Link 504T and it allowed me to do so) I need DHCP for casual connectors and need port forwarding for the couple of "permenant" clients. When I checked with USR Support they advised use of Port Triggeringt instead of Virtual Servers for Port Forwarding. DreadWingKnight
Port triggering's effectiveness is massively diminished when using p2p applications, which is why it's not recommended for use.Running your own external DHCP server could work with your requirements. It's a suggestion, considering that port triggering's effectiveness is less than 60% while port forwarding's effectiveness is over 95%
