mdstone Posted July 19, 2007 Report Posted July 19, 2007 Just upgraded to the new version and Norton is detecting it as a trojan horse virus, even though I permit the application to run I keep getting pop-ups telling me that it is unsafe. Anyone else getting this problem?
silverfire Posted July 19, 2007 Report Posted July 19, 2007 Uninstall Norton and install some real AV. Norton is garbage.
mdstone Posted July 19, 2007 Author Report Posted July 19, 2007 I've modified the rule now anyway. Norton AV isnt garbage but 'systemworks' is.
silverfire Posted July 19, 2007 Report Posted July 19, 2007 Norton is garbage. Symantec is less garbage. McAfee is garbage.avast, AVG, NOD32 and others are fine.
mdstone Posted July 20, 2007 Author Report Posted July 20, 2007 Regardless, still get the pop-up which never happened on version 1.7.0
Switeck Posted July 20, 2007 Report Posted July 20, 2007 Bleh, we should petition Norton to stop spreading FUD too without proof.
bacchuscook Posted July 21, 2007 Report Posted July 21, 2007 I am an anti Norton. I am NO computer guru, firewall god or whatever but Norton always slowed down my system. Avast and Panda are very good and free. I think it is just the idea that you are paying that gives you more comfort that you will get something good for sure.I am yet to come across an IT person that uses norton on their home computer.
mdstone Posted July 22, 2007 Author Report Posted July 22, 2007 I am an IT person, but only use Norton AV as I had a free copy. System Works is the worst system hog as a Norton package, hence why I don't use that.Anyhow, to fix this problem, remove the old utorrent.exe file from Norton Internet Worm Protection program list, then manually re-add the utorrent.exe file and select 'permit all'.
Ultima Posted July 22, 2007 Report Posted July 22, 2007 Sorry we couldn't be of more help; we tend to avoid Norton/Symantec products around here (as you've probably noticed ).
