ForThatMatter Posted November 21, 2005 Report Share Posted November 21, 2005 Ok, I've read a bunch of posts on how to set rules for uTorrent but still can't get uTorrent to download past 3k. Which it crappy because before I installed Outpost I was getting download speed of 200k +. Anyway I was hoping people who have Outpost 3 working with uTorrent could post either their presets so I can add it to me preset.list or provide detailed steps for manually setting the rules. My current setup isuTorrent under partial allowed applicationsRuleName: *Allow Inbound UDP to (my port) 55555Protocol: UDPDirection: InboundLocalPort: 55555AllowItRuleName: *Allow Inbound TCP to (my port) 55555Protocol: TCPDirection: InboundLocalPort: 55555AllowItRuleName: Allow Outbound UDP to (my port) 55555Protocol: UDPDirection: OutboundAllowItRuleName: Allow Outbound TCP to (my port) 55555Protocol: TCPDirection: OutboundAllowItRuleName: HTTP,HTTPS for tracker and updatesProtocol: TCPDirection: OutboundRemotePort: HTTP, HTTPSAllowItRuleName: LoopbackProtocol: TCPDirection: InboundRemoteHost: 127.0.0.1AllowItOf course, I have been friggen around with this for a while so the current state is probably not even close to being right. They are how I left them in frustration before I started this post. I have read threads from Outpost and from uTorrent forums and haven't found any answers. Didn't even bother to start making rules for µTorrent :-sDoes anyone know of a good, but basic firewall? ForThatMatter Posted November 28, 2005 Author Report Share Posted November 28, 2005 I wanted to close off this topic because I've found the reason for my slow downloads. It turns out that Shaw cable (my ISP) is throttling downloads. Funny that they started doing this in my areas right after I installed Outpost which made me think it was an Outpost problem when it wasn't. I'm sorry your ISP is doing that. :/ Get a better ISP if possible You might have to use BitComet for the packet header encryption if there's no other way to bypass the throttling...
