AfghanEB
I recently purchased a brand new HP S3120n media center PC which came pre-loaded with Windows Vista Home Premium. So far, I've installed uTorrent v1.7.2 on the system and noticed a major problem. If I start downloading a new torrent, the "Disk Overloaded" error appears after a few minutes (which is normal as the FAQ explains) but Vista then loses all network connectivity and the only way to get things working again is to restart the system.I'm certain that this is not a problem with my Linksys WRT54GX4 router since I have several other PCs which all use Windows XP Pro SP2 and none of them ever experience this behavior. I don't think it's a problem with this PC's wireless card since using other software that downloads at maximum speeds (such as NewsLeecher) works fine as expected.I've tried 2 things so far to see if I can get around this problem:* I installed the Vista TCP/IP patch which is available here. It didn't solve the problem.* I went in to uTorrent's advanced settings and set the net.max_halfopen value to 4. It didn't solve the problem either. Is there any way that I can resolve this problem? Installing Windows XP isn't an option since the manufacturer doesn't supply drivers for that OS seeing as this is a newer hardware model.
Ryan Norton
Could you post a process explorer process list when you get a chance?
AfghanEB
Here's a screen capture of uTorrent once it overloads (shortly after being opened). You can see here that the network connectivity icon in the system tray displays an exclamation mark. The names of the torrents have been intentionally blanked out for privacy reasons. Here are screen captures of the Windows Task Manager processes tab and there are two of these images since not all of the information fits in the first shot.If there's any further information that you might need, let me know.EDIT: I just realized that the task manager was probably not what you were referring to in your request, so here's a copy of the contents from the Process Explorer summary right after this problem occurs:Process PID CPU Description Company NameSystem Idle Process 0 91.41 Interrupts n/a Hardware Interrupts DPCs n/a 0.76 Deferred Procedure Calls System 4 smss.exe 404 Windows Session Manager Microsoft Corporationcsrss.exe 528 Client Server Runtime Process Microsoft Corporationwininit.exe 576 Windows Start-Up Application Microsoft Corporation services.exe 620 Services and Controller app Microsoft Corporation svchost.exe 772 Host Process for Windows Services Microsoft Corporation ehmsas.exe 3216 Media Center Media Status Aggregator Service Microsoft Corporation unsecapp.exe 3752 Sink to receive asynchronous callbacks for WMI client application Microsoft Corporation WmiPrvSE.exe 3820 WMI Provider Host Microsoft Corporation dllhost.exe 3056 COM Surrogate Microsoft Corporation svchost.exe 832 Host Process for Windows Services Microsoft Corporation svchost.exe 884 Host Process for Windows Services Microsoft Corporation svchost.exe 928 Host Process for Windows Services Microsoft Corporation audiodg.exe 1108 Windows Audio Device Graph Isolation Microsoft Corporation svchost.exe 1004 Host Process for Windows Services Microsoft Corporation WUDFHost.exe 2132 Windows Driver Foundation - User-mode Driver Framework Host Process Microsoft Corporation dwm.exe 2356 3.81 Desktop Window Manager Microsoft Corporation svchost.exe 1036 Host Process for Windows Services Microsoft Corporation taskeng.exe 2232 Task Scheduler Engine Microsoft Corporation taskeng.exe 2676 Task Scheduler Engine Microsoft Corporation SLsvc.exe 1144 Microsoft Software Licensing Service Microsoft Corporation svchost.exe 1188 Host Process for Windows Services Microsoft Corporation svchost.exe 1292 Host Process for Windows Services Microsoft Corporation spoolsv.exe 1480 Spooler SubSystem App Microsoft Corporation svchost.exe 1504 Host Process for Windows Services Microsoft Corporation LSSrvc.exe 1832 Hewlett-Packard Company nod32krn.exe 244 NOD32 Kernel Service Eset svchost.exe 332 Host Process for Windows Services Microsoft Corporation svchost.exe 416 Host Process for Windows Services Microsoft Corporation svchost.exe 500 Host Process for Windows Services Microsoft Corporation SearchIndexer.exe 516 Microsoft Windows Search Indexer Microsoft Corporation lsass.exe 632 Local Security Authority Process Microsoft Corporation lsm.exe 640 Local Session Manager Service Microsoft Corporationcsrss.exe 588 Client Server Runtime Process Microsoft Corporationwinlogon.exe 960 Windows Logon Application Microsoft Corporationexplorer.exe 2456 Windows Explorer Microsoft Corporation MSASCui.exe 2888 Windows Defender User Interface Microsoft Corporation hpsysdrv.exe 2900 hpsysdrv Hewlett-Packard Company OSD.exe 3032 OsdMaestro main program OsdMaestro RtHDVCpl.exe 3096 HD Audio Control Panel Realtek Semiconductor SnapfishMediaDetector.exe 3108 Snapfish Media Detector nod32kui.exe 3116 NOD32 Control Center GUI Eset sidebar.exe 3124 Windows Sidebar Microsoft Corporation ehtray.exe 3144 Media Center Tray Applet Microsoft Corporation explorer.exe 1356 Windows Explorer Microsoft Corporation procexp.exe 624 3.05 Sysinternals Process Explorer Sysinternals utorrent.exe 2412 1.52 iexplore.exe 3060 Internet Explorer Microsoft Corporationrundll32.exe 3132 Windows host process (Rundll32) Microsoft Corporationkbd.exe 2824 KBD EXE Hewlett-Packard CompanyThere might be some extra junk in there since I've only had the system for about a day and haven't gotten around to uninstalling all the pre-loaded software that I don't need.
