dom2please
P4-M (it's a laptop) with 512 ram......Now and then when I start uTorrent it "checks" each listed torrent. It takes HOURS and takes so much processor power I can hardly do anything past play solitare! What is happening? How can I avoid it? Thanks
DreadWingKnight
Check your hard drive transfer modes (Device manager - Properties of each IDE channel)If the current transfer mode is PIO, uninstall the channel and reboot the machine. dom2please
I checked and both are "DMA is available" so I didn't do anything, but thanks for the suggestion
DreadWingKnight
That's the wrong thing to look at.There's "Transfer mode" which has DMA if available and PIO only. Then there's "Current Transfer mode" which has the information I'm after.
