Utorrent Causing Connection Problem

hi there, utorrent seems to be interfering with my internet connection...

i have my port forwarded correctly, i am downloading at decent speeds, but when i have utorrent running it seems to suspend my internet connection...

for example, windows live messenger disconnects and reconnects itself every 1-3mins.... my general website browsing stops and pages will only load if i close utorrent down...

i have used online guides to configure my speeds and settings to match my bandwidth, so i cant see this being the problem... anyone else have this problem??

thanks

thanks for your reply... i have followed the guide in the link you provided, and i still seem to have the problem... i think its possibly my router... it seems to happen after a certain amount of time, and i have to turn off my router, then back on again to get a normal connection again...

Color of the network status light in µTorrent's status bar (at the bottom of the µTorrent main window) -GREEN

What the port checker from the Speed Guide writes - Checking port 55641 on 84.92.XXX.XX...

OK! Port 55641 is open and accepting connections.

You will be able to receive incoming BitTorrent connections.

What the Speed Guide shows your settings to be (press Ctrl+G in µTorrent) -

UPLOAD LIMIT - 36KB/S

UPLOAD SLOTS - 8

CONNECTIONS - 100

CONENCTIONS (GLOBAL) - 200

MAX ACTIVE TORRENTS - 9

MAX ACTIVE DOWNLOADS - 8

I have fiddled with these settings using online guides and the problem remains whatever i seem to change these to.

What you have net.max_halfopen set to (Preferences > Advanced in µTorrent) - 4

OPERATING SYSTEM = WINDOWS XP SP2

ANTIVIRUS - AVAST

FIREWALL - WINDOWS FIREWALL

ANTISPYWARE - SPYWARE BLASTER, SPYWARE TERMINATOR

ROUTER MODEL - SAFECOM SART2-4112 WITH UPTO DATE FIRMWARE

ISP - WWW.FREE-ONLINE.NET

INTERNET - ADSL

DOWNLOAD - 4366KB/S UPLOAD - 383KB/S

If you require anymore info then please let me know.

I have updated my CPU driver as stated in this thread... http://forum.utorrent.com/viewtopic.php?id=21178

And i have followed all guides in this thread http://forum.utorrent.com/viewtopic.php?id=15992#p258238

another thing i have noticed is that this problem only occurs after so long... say half an hour to an hour after running utorrent... do you think maybe there is a time setting in my router settings that is causing maybe a port to shut down or something like that?

thanks

Just to be 100% sure... it's safe to assume you have DHT, UPnP, NAT-PMP, IP resolving in the peers tab, and peer.resolve_country set to false?

all these have been disabled/set to false

Can you try lowering the global maximum number of connections to 50 to see if the problem persists?

i have lowered this number too and the problem still remains...

this is getting very frustrating now
