Rajen
Can I have a reboot when net connection breaks or traffic becomes nil. More or less when the download arrows all turns red.My Lan/net connection suddenly goes on the blink and the PC spend the whole night wasting power with doing anything useful. A reboot restores connection and resumes downloads.
Firon
No.In any case, your LAN should reconnect. If it doesn't, there's something broken with your stuff.
Rajen
Donno Firon, but my net connection goes dead sometimes and a reboot fixes it. The lan seems to work as the kids access stuff on my shared drives. It does not affect the Net on other PC of my kids on the home network!
Firon
Perhaps your NIC is screwed up, as mine has no trouble reconnecting by itself. Consider getting a new PCI NIC.

Firon
I am curious though, when it dies, have you tried renewing the DHCP lease?
ajones81
Rajen, next time it happens, try typing the following commands in a Command Prompt window:ipconfig /releaseipconfig /flushdnsipconfig /registerdnsipconfig /renew[should work under WinXP and above, not too sure about previous versions.]
