torrents become inactive when closing program...

When I close Utorrent and re-open it, all of my current torrents downloading change to "inactive" status (with the grey, circle icon), the tracker status changes to "scrape ok" and each torrent goes through a lengthy "checking" process before it reverts to an active download. It takes forever and eats up a ton of bandwidth. It doesn't happen every time, but has been happening more frequently lately. Is there a way to prevent this? Thanks

Maybe uTorrent is not shutting down properly for some reason. Try setting Option / Preferences / Advanced / bt.graceful_shutdown to true.
