Port Forward problem

When I use the utorrent speed guide to test if my port is forwarded properly, I get a response that says that the port I have designated is not open but the IP address listed is not the same Internet Port IP address of my router.

I have Verizon FIOS service going to a Netgear WGT624v3 wireless router. I have a static IP address for my laptop. I have port forwarded on the router using the instructions available at PortForward.com.

I am not getting good connectivity when downloading. Any suggestions about the IP addresses?

Thanks

Please excuse me if I can't provide the best description, but to my understanding we do not have a modem. The FIOS service comes directly into the house and connects to a FIOS box. A line from this box goes to our router that then connects to the main desktop computer. We have always been told by Verizon that we don't have a modem in this system.

As to the firewalls, we have Norton antivirus, and SpySweeper. I have turned off the Windows XP firewall and specifically tried to configure Norton so that this port should be open in the firewall. I did this on my laptop computer only and not on the mail desktop computer if this makes a diference.

Thanks for the interest in this question.

FYI, the router we are using is relatively new. The previous one worked well with Utorrent and got amazing speed but this new one has been a challenge.

I have NAV 2006 and I can't find the worm protection to turn off. Is it called something else in this version? I'm using a Dell XPS M140 with a ACPI Uniprocessor.

But in past months I was able to use utorrent with the previous router and the same NAV program in place on my computer.

I guess I am still curious as to why when I test the port forwarding it seems to test to a different IP address (71.125.4.8...) and not the IP address of my router (71.167.159.72)?

 The FiOS isn't the problem, it's the Router configuration.

If that Router has a config for Virtual Servers, that's where you'll want to set up your uTorrent Clients and the port number you want to assign for each Client you have on your LAN. Each System will need a separate Port number and I have assigned them for TCP Settings only.

In the Client Settings I have the UPnP disabled and you are safe to use any ports between 49125 and 65535. If anyone is being Throttled go to port 1720 or 1723 and make sure you have Forced Encryption enabled and do not allow the incomng Legacy connections.
