ajones81 Posted July 30, 2007 Report Posted July 30, 2007 The Comment field in the Add New Torrent dialog is the only one whose contents can exceed the width of the window (depending on the screen resolution, of course). If the field were to be changed to an uneditable text field that can still be 'scrolled' to the right using the text cursor, then we could read the whole comment even on low-resolution screens.
Ultima Posted July 30, 2007 Report Posted July 30, 2007 That'd look pretty ugly unless all the other fields were also changed to text fields. And comments can be multi-line, which would make it even uglier. From an aesthetics point of view, I think text fields just don't work in the Add New Torrent dialog :|
ajones81 Posted July 31, 2007 Author Report Posted July 31, 2007 Hmm... Maybe a tooltip for the Comment field displaying the full text would be in order? The reason why I mentioned an uneditable but selectable text field was that sometimes comments have URLs etc. and it would also be easier to simply copy them directly, besides the primary reason of viewing the whole comment, of course.Visually, I think such a text field would look just like the label that's used now so the aesthetics wouldn't be affected. For example, check out any file's properties in Win Explorer. I'm posting from a Win2K machine now so here's a screenshot:As you can clearly see, the Location field is not a simple label but an example of the kind of text field I am talking about. It looks just like a label but the text can be selected, copied (using the normal context menu or the keyboard) etc.So, how about it?
Ultima Posted July 31, 2007 Report Posted July 31, 2007 Oh. I was thinking something more a long the lines of that field that writes "uTorrent.txt" when you said text field
