kertalia
Because I am terrifyingly new at all this "computer stuff" that I've heard so much about, I have an unimportant question or two that I would like to throw out there into the fray of experts: What does this "seeding" thing mean and why does it take so long? torrero
a seed is a peer that has a complete copy of a torrent and still offers it for upload (for the peers who dont have the full file yet). Normally, you should seed at least until you reach the 1.000 ratio (download/upload).
Ultima
Seeding means to keep uploading to other people after you've finished downloading the file. It's just reciprocation of data you've received -- a courtesy thing. Without seeding, BitTorrent would die, which is why seeding is so important. It takes so long usually because for most people, upload is slower than download.
