atkd
I ran port checker, it said to make sure that Peer Guardian 2 (PG2) allowed the following I.P. 72.20.4.102 I did that and it worked, for awhile.Tonight, my icon was yellow. I ran port checker and it said that my port was not open. I disabled PG2 and then ran port checker again, it reported my port was open and accepting connections. I then enabled PG2 again, and my port was blocked again. This verified that PG2 was blocking that port. I then checked to see what I.P.'s PG2 was blocking. I noticed that PG2 was reporting another utorrent i.p. as being blocked. I allowed this I.P., and wallah, my port was open again. So my question is this, If this is a new I.P. that now must be allowed, why isn't this I.P. also mentioned on the port checker page? The I.P. is: 208.72.193.69Strangely, even though port checker is now reporting my port as open, I still have a yellow icon.Ay yi yi
slipstream
So my question is this, If this is a new I.P. that now must be allowed, why isn't this I.P. also mentioned on the port checker page? The I.P. is: 208.72.193.69It resolves to tracker.bittorrent.com - I would guess it is set as tracker on some of the torrents you are downloading.PS: however it seems that utorrent.com portchecker is now indeed using new external IPs - I've got connection from 208.72.193.4 (unresolvable but definitely belongs to BitTorrent Inc. netrange).Hehe, nice move to get BitTorrent Inc netrange finally removed from default ipfilter.datStrangely, even though port checker is now reporting my port as open, I still have a yellow icon.Since the icon not RED you are sortof ok. Yellow means indefinite status.
funchords
Strangely, even though port checker is now reporting my port as open, I still have a yellow icon. That's normal. It will stay yellow until you actually get a successful incoming connection from a BitTorrent peer. It does not react to the port tester.
oafaloaf
I'm really new with all this, so excuse the dumb question.....Do I have to permanently allow "BitTorrent,Inc" in PG2? As of right now, it is blocking "BitTorrent, Inc" and I've noticed that my downloads are not exceeding 50 kb/s.
slipstream
oafaloaf,You have unlimited freedom of allowing "BitTorrent,Inc" in PG2 just to check if that can help your download speed and report back if it would.
SpideRaY
Dudes make sure that if you use peerguardian and add the extra lists from the bluetack block list, under this URL belowhttp://www.bluetack.co.uk/config/fornonlancomputers.zipYou make sure that you do not use the fornonlan computers list with the address range 192.168.0.0 - 192.168.255.255, you must ALLOW THIS RANGEIt is OK to have the other 3 IP ranges blocked so just right click and allow the one above permanently to avoid errors. If you do not you will always get the error in the browser that uTorrent has no port open please check that the 70.20.34.145 ip address is allowed in PG or PW, this is a WAN address and therefore must be allowed also. The fornon LAN address range blocked by PG2 will prevent uTorrent from forwarding the listening port and will slow down your torrent download speeds in the long run + you will get the 501 errors, never that good plus stops you being an efficient P2P user.N.B. >Make sure that the UPnP and NAT-PMP tick boxes are checked, also randomize port, for uTorrents v1.7.2 latest stable release. When you think about it your gateway out of your router will be on one of these IP's and the NAT will not be able to do it's job to open the LAN port usually 192.168.1.67 or 70 to translate your ISP WAN address (example 81.152.60.102) so it will be blocked as it is within bluetacks fornonlancomputers IP range.Guess what it took me 2 days to realise this, don't be a fool like me and add it then spend the next 48 hours solving a problem you have caused incidentally I am now blocking 2,992,193,443 IP ranges using the excellent PG2 (that almost 3 billion). All other lists that bluetack give you are fine to use I suggest that you use listdrop to combine them to make it easier and use ipfilter.dat use http://emulepawcio.sourceforge.net/nieuwe_site/Ipfilter_fakes/ipfilter.dat#-0---(main title)---Ipfilter v124 (2007-07-07).you can ignore the 072.020.034.144-072.020.034.159,090,[L1]SwifticABline if you use the a permanent allow list in PG2 to counteract this rangeas the 70.20.34.145 is within it otherwise change it to 146 and resave.Spideray
