scaz
I have a couple of questions regarding utorrent and modems/routers. I have a Motorola Surfboard 4200 modem (supplied by optonline) and a d-link (dir-615) router (mine). Lately, I've had a problem with my modem losing connection and rebooting. It starts to happen after I've used utorrent, but then continues after I turn utorrent off. I end up going to my cable provider and getting a new modem. My question is: Can Utorrent damage a modem or router? Burn it out from extessive speed? Also, my troubles seem to have started when I bought a wireless router this spring. The first one was a netgear which was a disaster. This d-link seems to run better. Does Utorrent have a problem with wireless routers?I've read the forum post regarding troubleshooting and have tried all of those things. Thanks in advance for any help. Tops
Any torrent client can give problems to modems/routers if they use too many connections at once. Check your utorrent settings.
Switeck
As far as I know, µTorrent is incapable of long-term damage to a modem. The modem may crash the moment µTorrent is started, but should be fine when rebooted...if µTorrent is not running.
