Utorrent and modem damage

I have a couple of questions regarding utorrent and modems/routers. I have a Motorola Surfboard 4200 modem (supplied by optonline) and a d-link (dir-615) router (mine). Lately, I've had a problem with my modem losing connection and rebooting. It starts to happen after I've used utorrent, but then continues after I turn utorrent off. I end up going to my cable provider and getting a new modem.

My question is: Can Utorrent damage a modem or router? Burn it out from extessive speed?

Also, my troubles seem to have started when I bought a wireless router this spring. The first one was a netgear which was a disaster. This d-link seems to run better. Does Utorrent have a problem with wireless routers?

I've read the forum post regarding troubleshooting and have tried all of those things.

Any torrent client can give problems to modems/routers if they use too many connections at once. Check your utorrent settings.

As far as I know, µTorrent is incapable of long-term damage to a modem.

The modem may crash the moment µTorrent is started, but should be fine when rebooted...if µTorrent is not running.
